Exhibit: Growth’ is an experiential art installation commissioned by Umpqua Bank, aiming to take visitors on a personal journey of growth and self-discovery whilst demonstrating the power and beauty of a collective experience.
Umpqua commissioned CAA Marketing, Fake Love and Mill+ to design the interactive element inside a 40-foot geodesic dome including the graphic stages of Liberation, Fear, Isolation, Frustration, Regret and Confusion, culminating in the Community Tree Growth Sequence.
Portland’s Director Park hosted the launch week of what is to be a multi-city West Coast tour which will showcase local artists’ work in each location in addition to the dome.
Collaborating closely with CAA Marketing and Fake Love, Clarice Chin led the Mill+ team in creating the stunning visuals for the exhibition. Like stepping into a gallery, participants are taken into a space where they are equipped with headphones and asked to move around the dome, interacting with and developing the scene in front of them.
Ultimately, it highlights Umpqua Bank’s unique quality and role within the community. Beginning with a simple question, “what does it take to have a conversation about money?”, the bank aims to surmount the taboo of talking openly about finances and this project is an approach through the medium of art.
